Supporting your students

Your liaison librarians and study skills advisors work with you to develop and deliver the skills students need to succeed at University and beyond.

Study skills support

Tailored skills for learning sessions

We aim to see all new students for a library welcome session to introduce the services and support available. Your liaison librarian can work with you to tailor skills sessions, workshops and lectures to your specific module needs. These sessions include:

  • understanding different sources of information
  • how to find information using library resources and beyond
  • evaluating and selecting the best information for academic assignments
  • how to use specialist subject resources and databases

One-to-one support

Students can make one-to-one appointments with your liaison librarian to support individual research, such as dissertations or projects. Maths and study skills advisors based in the Murray Library, can also offer one-to-one support whenever students need a little extra help.

Skills for Learning drop-in sessions and workshops

Skills for learning drop-in sessions and and workshops take place in the library each semester. Their development is informed by student and staff feedback. These drop in are in addition to normal subject provision delivered by your liaison librarian.
