Library Research Support

We provide support for researchers at all stages, from postgraduate researchers to established researchers. We help you get started, find the resources you need, and navigate open research from data management planning to publishing Open Access.

Your Research Buddy

As a researcher at the University of Sunderland, you can draw on the experience and knowledge of our Academic Liaison Librarians. You can organise one-to-one appointments with the Librarian who can best support your research area. We work closely with academics in specific Schools and Faculties and have the knowledge to guide you to find information and interrogate the best collections and databases available.

Subject Support

Start your research by using our subject guides. This will give you information on the most appropriate resources we hold for your subject area. Interdisciplinary researchers will benefit from using several subject guides.

Open Research

Open research practices are becoming essential for researchers, and we are here to support you in making your work accessible, compliant, and widely discoverable. We provide a range of support for open research, such as outlining publishing routes, copyright and licensing, and requirements such as REF compliance, as well as how to use the University’s repository to increase visibility and impact. We can also advise on managing and sharing research data, including data management planning and FAIR principles.

SURE, our research respository

As part of Open Research support, we manage SURE, the University's institutional research repository. SURE showcases our research to the wider world.  Explore the repository to discover what our academics research and browse PhD theses.
