English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses

You can apply for free English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Business Studies (EBS) courses if you are a current student at the University of Sunderland.

EAP courses are aimed at students who have English as a foreign or second language but we also have courses for native speakers of English. These courses are in-sessional modules meaning that they run in term time.

We are offering five-week courses designed to help you develop your English language and academic skills and support you in your main course of study.

In semester 2 our teaching is divided into two Blocks: Block C and Block D.

In Block C, EAP teaching begins week commencing 3rd February and, in Block D, EAP classes will begin week commencing 24th March 2025 . Each course requires you to attend two hours per week, plus an additional 30 minutes is available for tutorials.

You're allowed to choose ONE or TWO courses per teaching block, or a total of four courses per semester.

Not sure which courses to choose?

You can  chat to us online to find the course that’s right for you; one of our course leaders will get in touch with you and provide advice. Alternatively, drop by one of our on campus sessions and a member of the team will help you:

Visit us at Wearside View 108 (Language Centre), St. Peter’s Campus, on Wednesdays, January 15th, 22th, and 29th or February 5th, from 1 to 3 pm.

You can also book a one-to-one session for advice and support with your academic English.
