Find resources that are print only

If you are an off campus student and need a book or journal article that is only available in our print collections you may be able to use the Document Delivery Service.

What is Document Delivery?

If a book chapter or journal article you need is available within our print collections we may be able to digitise it and send it to you by email. We will follow copyright law which means you can request:

  • one journal article from an issue of a journal.
  • one chapter or ten percent of a book.

Who can use the Document Delivery Service?

The following students can use the Document Delivery Service:

  • Independent distance learners
  • Overseas partner college students
  • Work based learners
  • Degree apprenticeship students

How to make a request?

  1.  Check Library Search to check whether the title you need is available online.  We have videos that explain how to use Library Search to check for ebooks and journal articles.

  2. Make sure you have the bibliographic details of what you need for example title, author, chapter, page numbers etc. For books you will need to select a chapter.  Check our guide to choosing a relevant book chapter.

  3. Complete the Document Delivery Request Form providing as much information as you can.

What happens next?

Library staff will check whether we have the title you have requested in stock. We will also check copyright permissions. If we have the material you need in stock we will digitise and email it to you. If we do not have the material in stock we will need to use the interlibrary loan service and we may ask you to complete the interlibrary loan form.
